Mt. Juliet Public Works is one of the largest and most diverse departments with eight divisions.  The focus for each public works team member is community service and safety.  Below are some points of contact for various issues.

Q:  Who do I call to pay my sewer bill, or ask a question about my sewer bill? Contact the Sewer Billing Division at 754-2554.

Q:  If I would like to build an addition to my home, build a pool or put up a fence? Contact The Building Codes Division at 773-6225.

Q:  Can I burn some limbs or brush on my property? Residents of Mt. Juliet can burn piles of brush and limbs on their property but they need to follow a few simple procedures. For the actual burn permit, contact the State of Tennessee Forestry Department at 1-800-337-3157, then notify WEMA at 758-2158 and then notify the Codes Enforcement Office at 773-6247.  No open commercial burning is allowed in the City of Mt. Juliet.  Commercial burning must have an air curtain destructor.

Q:  My neighbor has tall grass or an inoperable vehicle, who do I call? Contact Adam Meadors at 773-6247

Q:  If I need to know if I am in a flood plain, who do I call? Contact Isabelle Ford at 773-6285.

Q:  I have a box on the side of my house with a red light on top of it, what does this control? This controls a  2 HP centrifugal pump that sits down in a basin. When the water level in the basin reaches the desired level a float switch turns the pump on. All of the water and solids are sucked through the bottom of the pump and chewed up by a cutting wheel assembly. After that it is pumped through a small diameter pipe to the main sewer line. Once the water goes down to the desired level another float switch turns the pump off.

Q:  If the red light on my box starts flashing, what do I do?  If this happens between the hours of 7:00am to 5:00pm, contact 773-7957.  If this happens after business hours or on the weekend call the police department at 754-2550 and speak with a dispatcher.  If it is during normal business hours or after hours we will have someone come out to your home and see what the problem is.  We have someone on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week for emergencies.

Q:  What do I need to do if sewage begins to back up into my home?
