Randy E. Robertson 

  

     Randy E. Robertson has been City Manager, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, since 2007.  He came to the position from serving as City Manager of Ashland, Kentucky, eastern Kentucky's largest city.  Prior to that he served nearly thirty years with the U.S. Army as an officer and senior civil servant.    

     Mr. Robertson's assignments included Washington D.C.; Walter Reed Army Medical Center; Forts Meade, Gordon, Harrison and Carlisle Barracks; White Sands Missile Range; the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (Belgium) and the 5th Signal Command, in Germany.  After military retirement he immediately assumed duties as Department of the Army Civil Servant, reaching GS-15, the highest civilian grade in the "General Schedule" system.  Career highlights include serving the Chief of Staff, Supreme Allied Command in Europe, assignments with the Army's Personnel Command, and youngest installation Director of Personnel for the Army's Training and Doctrine Command.  He was the first federal civil servant appointed Chief of Staff of two major Army organizations, the 2d Signal Brigade, U.S. Army Europe, and the Department of Defense's largest installation, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.   He received the Legion of Merit for military service and two awards of the Army's Sustained Superior Civilian Award.  

     Mr. Robertson holds a Bachelor's and Master's in Public Service from Western Kentucky University, a Master's of Science from the Army War College, and a Master's of Science in Urban Planning from The Johns Hopkins University.  He also holds two Certificates of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) – one in Education from Boston University, and one in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University.  Mr. Robertson is a graduate of the NATO Staff Officer’s Course, Syracuse University's Advanced Resource Manager's Program, the Army’s and Department of Defense’s Executive Leadership Programs, and was selected to Harvard University as a Senior Executive Fellow.  He recently completed Belmont University’s “Mini-MBA” Program and the International City Manager's Association Senior Executive Institute at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.  He has held Adjunct Faculty positions with several colleges and universities in the U.S. and Europe, and in 2010 was appointed to the Board of Directors for University Medical Center, in Lebanon, Tennessee. 

     Randy's wife is Darlene, originally of Jeffersontown, Kentucky.  Darlene is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the United States Army.  They have two adult sons, Courtney and Tyler who both reside in Washington, D.C., and are with the federal government.
