Alcoholic Beverage Board

Meeting Time:  Meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. (if needed) at City Hall. 

Appointments:  Appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Commission for a five year term. (Title 2-2-020) 

Purpose:  The Mt. Juliet Alcoholic Beverage Board shall have jurisdiction of licensing, regulation and control of transportation, storage, sale, distribution, possession, receipt and manufacture of alcoholic beverages in Mt. Juliet.

 Board of Zoning Appeals

 

Meeting Times:  2nd Thursday at 7:00 p.m. (if needed) 

Appointment:  Appointed by the Board of Commissioners for a three year term.  (Zoning Ordinance

 14-104.3 & TCA 13-7-205)

 Purpose:  To hear citizen request on the following:

 Administrative Appeals

Pursuant to Section 13-7-207, (1), Tennessee Code, the Board shall hear and decide appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Zoning Administrator or any other administrative official in carrying out the enforcement of this zoning ordinance, whereby it is alleged in writing that the Zoning Administrator is in error or acted arbitrarily.

 

Variances 

Pursuant to Section 13-7-207, (3), Tennessee Code, the Board shall hear and act upon applications for variances to alleviate hardships created by not being able to comply with this zoning ordinance by reason of unique shape, topography or physical features of the zone lot.

 

Conditional Use Permits

Pursuant to Section 13-7-207, (2), Tennessee Code, the Board shall hear and act upon applications for conditional use permits.  For the purposes of this ordinance, conditional uses shall be synonymous with "special exceptions", as controlled by Section 13-7-206, Tennessee Code.

 

Referred Matters

Hear and act upon all matters referred to it on which it is required to act under this ordinance.

 

Right of Entry upon Land 

Enter upon any land within its jurisdiction to make examinations and surveys and place or remove public notices as required by this ordinance.

Appointment:       Commission votes to approve – one member – no term limit.

Purpose:     To provide the citizens of Mt. Juliet with a link to the past and a vision for the future.

Ethics Commission 

Title 1, Chapter 13

 

Meeting Time:      As needed. 13-1-112(5) 

Purpose:               This Commission shall determine the disposition of complaints of violations against an official of the City of Mt. Juliet. 

Appointment:           Three (3) year terms or until a successor is appointed.  The Mayor and each Commissioner shall appoint one person that lives in his/her district.  The appointment shall be confirmed by a majority vote of the Board of Commissioners

Planning Commission

Appointment:     Mayor has a seat or designates someone to fill that seat, Commissioners elect one member, remaining members are appointed by the Mayor, Nine members, four year terms with terms expiring each year.  (Title 11-1-102 and TCA 13-4-101) 

Purpose:     Members of this Commission are entrusted with developing and standardizing the planning and zoning processes for the continued growth and development of the Mt. Juliet community.

Parks & Greenways Board

 

Meeting Time:      1st Monday of each quarter at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall

Appointment:       Appointed by the Mayor for a five year term.  (Title 12-4-101)

Purpose:     Create a vision and secure the resources for expansion and use of the Mt. Juliet Parks system

Railroad Authority

 

Purpose:     To govern use for and establish standard operating procedures of the Rail Road tracks that traverse the city limits of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.

Meeting Time:  Once a quarter.  To be announced throughout the year.

Senior Citizens Center Board

   The Mt. Juliet West Wilson Senior Citizens are at 501 (c)3      

Meeting Times:        3rd Tuesday of every other month starting with July at 5:30 p.m. at the Mt. Juliet West Wilson Senior Citizens Center. 

Appointment:           One member of the City of Mt. Juliet City Commission appointed by the Mayor, one member from the County Commission appointed by the County Mayor, and various business leaders and citizens. 

Purpose:                 This Board hires the Executive Director, determines policies with regard to the operation and/or maintenance, adopt an annual budget.     

Appointment:          Commission votes to approve.

Special Events Committee

 

Meeting Time:               As needed

Appointment:       Seven members appointed by the Mayor for staggered 3 year terms.  The Committee shall appoint a Chairperson, five of the seven members must be residents of the City of Mt. Juliet.

 

Purpose:     To plan and orchestrate Special Events for the residents of the Mt. Juliet area.  Some of the events are the 4th of July parade and fireworks display, Halloween in the Park, Christmas in the Park, Armed Forces, etc.3 members appointed by the Mayor, 1 member appointed by each Commissioner; approved by the Board of Commissioners, 3-year terms

Board of Adjustments and Appeals

 

Ord. #2006-37 

Meetings:        As Needed – in no event, later than twenty (20) days following notice of an appeal. 

 Appointments:   The Mayor shall appoint a minimum of three members who are not employees of the City.  The code official is an ex-officio member and shall have no vote on any matter.  Terms shall be staggered and overlapping.  Annually the Board will select a chairperson. 

Purpose:        This Board will hear appeals by citizens for property maintenance and new construction.

Traffic Commission

Chapter 28, Article 2, Section 21

Purpose: provide the framework for standard traffic control and parking within the Mt. Juliet jurisdiction.
